Our Story
“Peace Beyond the Pain” was founded in 2019 by Jennifer Maraston
in Dallas, Texas as the result of the senseless MURDER of her eldest
son Jaquan Wyatt. Jaquan was visiting California with friends to
celebrate his 21st birthday on May 18, 2019. Unfortunately, Jaquan
was murdered the very next day May 19, 2019 which in fact was the
same day he had plans to celebrate his birthday with his family.
Sadly, that never happened.
Jennifer soon found out the trauma that is placed on the ENTIRE FAMILY
once the funeral services are over and everyone else returns to normal daily life.

Like Jaquan & Jennifer, children and their parents are victims of murder every day. In 2018 there were 16,214 murders in the Unites States (Statista*) including 1,322 murders in Texas. In 2019, the Dallas Police Department confirmed 210 homicides for the city alone. These numbers are shared to bring light to not just the numbers but the families that are affected by crime and violence constantly and consistently.

Peace Beyond The Pain is on a pursuit to inspire and support the families that have been victimized by senseless HOMICIDE.
About Us
Peace Beyond the Pain is a Dallas, Texas 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization seeking to respond to the immediate emotional needs of families victimized by the homicide of a loved one. Each family can express their stages of grief in a real, raw, honest, unbiased, non-judgmental & safe environment. Unlike traditional grief support groups our support groups are lead and operated by mothers, fathers, siblings, & grandparents of homicide victims. Peace Beyond the Pain also serves as advocates for the families that would like additional support during court appearances. Through advocacy and outreach activities, our team works tirelessly each day to contribute their part to the greater good.
